Dr. Thakur is a graduate of Patna Medical College, Patna University from India. He graduated in 1991 and was resident in training when he moved to England in 1993. He did two years of residency in Wrexham Maellor Hospital in Wales and in Cardiothoracic Center in Liverpool before moving to Rochester, New York, USA. In 1995 he joined St. Mary’s Internal Medicine Residency Program affiliated to University of Rochester, New York. He was Chief Resident of his program in 1998 when he moved to Memphis/Southaven area and has been a practicing internist in the area since then. He is currently Medical Director for Midsouth Hospitalist and also President of Medical Staff at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Southaven, Desoto, MS. He currently serves as President elect of Memphis Chapter of Society of Hospital Medicine.
He has been Vice President (2007- 8) & Secretary of Medical Staff for 2005 - 6. He was Chairman, Department of Medicine at Baptist Memorial Hospital, DeSoto in 2003 - 4. He has served as Medical Director for Hospice Services and Baptist Progressive Center in the past. He has completed certification in managed care Medicine and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He is also a fellow of American College of Physicians & is a member of American Medical Association and Society of Hospital Medicine. He was recognized as one of the top ten Hospitalist of the country by ACP HOSPITALIST journal in 2008.
